Several ATM cards were reportedly found in Abdullah’s possession when he was detained. The discovery prompted further questions about the circumstances surrounding his presence in the city and whether the cards were connected to any other suspected offence.
Following information from local residents, a team from Hatigaon Police Station arrived at the location and took Abdullah into custody. He was subsequently brought to the police station for questioning.
Police said Abdullah is an accused in a case registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at a police station in Barpeta. Authorities are also examining suspected links to cybercrime, though officials have not yet established the exact nature of any such involvement.
Investigators are now looking into how Abdullah travelled from Barpeta to Guwahati and what circumstances led to his detention at Beltola Tiniali. Police are also examining the multiple ATM cards reportedly recovered from him to determine their ownership, source and possible connection with any criminal activity.
Further questioning and verification are expected to provide more details about the allegations against him. Police will take additional legal steps based on the evidence gathered during the investigation.
The detention followed the intervention of local residents, who alerted law enforcement after identifying the man. The case remains under investigation, and authorities are expected to establish the full circumstances surrounding his alleged offences and activities.
