Tripura BJP Launches Statewide Booth Verification Ahead of Village Council Polls

The Tripura unit of the BJP will begin a statewide booth verification exercise from August 18

The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is preparing to strengthen its grassroots organisation ahead of the upcoming village council elections by launching a statewide booth verification campaign from August 18. The exercise will focus on assessing the functioning of booth-level units and identifying areas where the party’s organisational structure needs improvement.

According to a notification issued by the Tripura BJP State Executive Committee, state BJP president Abhishek Debroy has instructed all district presidents to begin the verification exercise in their respective areas. Party workers will examine the status of booth committees and identify units that are inactive, weak or require additional organisational support.

Wherever gaps are found, new workers will be given responsibilities to improve the functioning of the booth teams. The party has also directed that individuals assigned specifically to booth-level duties should not simultaneously be burdened with other organisational or administrative responsibilities. The move is intended to ensure that designated workers can concentrate fully on the verification process and subsequent booth-level activities.

To supervise the campaign across the state, the BJP has formed a five-member State Booth Verification Team. State vice-president Tapas Bhattacharya will serve as its convenor. State secretary Nabadal Banik, state secretary Bhumika Nanda Reang, BJP chairman Abhijit Deb and former district president Debabrata Bhattacharjee have been appointed as co-convenors.

The state-level team will coordinate the verification process with district organisations. Each district will establish a three-member verification committee consisting of one convenor and two co-convenors. At the mandal level, a district-appointed in-charge will oversee the work and form a three-member team to conduct booth verification in the respective mandal.

The BJP has fixed August 24 as the deadline for completing the statewide exercise. Party leaders are expected to review the findings and take corrective measures wherever organisational weaknesses are identified.

The campaign is being viewed as part of the party’s preparations for the village council elections, with particular emphasis on strengthening booth-level networks, improving coordination among workers and ensuring a more active grassroots presence. Through the exercise, the BJP aims to identify organisational shortcomings well before the polls and ensure that its local teams are prepared for the electoral contest.
