Around 9,000 Yaba Tablets Seized in Chapar Drug Raid, Two Held

Assam Police have intensified their crackdown on illegal drugs with the seizure of around 9,000 Yaba tablets during an operation in Chapar’s Pakhirirtal Market in Dhubri district. Two individuals were arrested following the recovery, which authorities estimate to be worth nearly Rs 25 lakh in the illegal market.

The operation was conducted at Suhana Drug Distributor, a pharmacy located within Pakhirirtal Market. Acting on specific information about the suspected storage or movement of banned substances, police personnel carried out a search of the premises. During the search, officers reportedly discovered a substantial quantity of Yaba tablets.

The two arrested individuals have been identified as Magarav Ali and Saddam Hussain. Police suspect that Magarav Ali may have links to the illegal drug trade, while investigators are examining the possible role of both individuals in connection with the seized contraband.

The large seizure has raised concerns among residents of the area, particularly because the suspected drugs were recovered from a commercial premises. Authorities are now attempting to determine how the tablets reached the location and whether the pharmacy was being used as part of a wider distribution network.

Following the arrests, police launched a detailed investigation into the source and intended destination of the seized tablets. Investigators are also expected to examine communication records and other relevant evidence to identify possible associates connected with the suspected drug network.

The seizure is being viewed as a significant action in the ongoing campaign against the illegal circulation of narcotic substances in Assam. Police officials are continuing their investigation to establish the complete chain behind the alleged supply and distribution of the tablets.
