A tragic incident in Assam’s Samaguri cast a pall of gloom over the Independence Day celebrations after a husband and wife died of electrocution at Amlakhi.
The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Rabha and his wife, Manju Rabha, who reportedly suffered fatal electric shocks at their residence.

According to preliminary details, the incident occurred when Ganesh Rabha went to switch off the water pump at his home. He reportedly came into contact with an electrical current and was electrocuted.
Seeing her husband in distress, Manju Rabha attempted to rescue him. However, she too came into contact with the live electrical current and suffered an electric shock.
Both Ganesh and Manju died at the spot, turning what was supposed to be a day of Independence Day celebrations into a deeply distressing occasion for their family and the local community.
News of the couple’s simultaneous deaths spread through Amlakhi and adjoining areas, leaving residents shocked and grief-stricken. The incident has also highlighted the potentially fatal risks posed by electrical faults and improperly insulated household wiring and appliances.
