The Assam Legislative Assembly complex in Guwahati observed India’s 80th Independence Day on Saturday with a ceremonial flag-hoisting programme attended by officials and members of the Assembly. Assembly Speaker Ranjeet Kumar Dass unfurled the national Tricolour at the premises, marking the occasion with a message of patriotism and remembrance.
The ceremony featured the playing of the national anthem from the historic Assembly building, creating a solemn atmosphere as participants joined in the national observance. One of the notable visual elements of the programme was a drone carrying the Indian flag, which flew above the Assembly complex while the national anthem was being rendered.

Independence Day celebrations were organised across Assam and the rest of the country, with citizens coming together to honour the freedom movement and remember the sacrifices made during India’s struggle against British colonial rule. The Prime Minister also highlighted India’s progress across different sectors, attributing the country’s achievements to the collective efforts of its large population. He expressed confidence that the nation’s development journey would gather further momentum in the coming years.
